Obituary

H. James “Jim” Burgoyne, 87, of Arbutus Road, died Monday, January 2, 2006, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Campus. His wife of 60 years, Olive (Magrath) Burgoyne, died in 2004. He leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Richard Vaughn, of Leominster; a granddaughter, Amy Vaughn, of Boylston; and a grandson, James Vaughn, of Worcester. His sister, Olive (Burgoyne) Davison, and grandson, Brian Vaughn, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Thomas H. and Ruth (Vickstrom) Burgoyne. He was a graduate of North High, Worcester Jr. College, and Clark University. Mr. Burgoyne was an Army veteran of WWII and served in France and Germany. He retired from Davis Press, Worcester in 1982, where he was comptroller. Jim was an accomplished musician and played drums with many local area bands for over 60 years. He enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and the Coast of Maine. He was a member of the Greendale Men’s Club and was a member of the Golf and Bowling Leagues.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 6, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., with a calling hour at 1:00 p.m. and a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
