Rhode Island – Manuel A. “Rolo” Teixeira, age 73, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria Regina (Ribau) Teixeira.
Manuel was born in Gafanha da Nazaré, Portugal to Joao Caçoilo Teixeira and Maria Rosa Bola. He had been a fisherman and later was employed as a machinist for Allegheny Rodney Metals until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Regina; daughters, Sonya Ventura and Ofelia Pierce and her husband, Nathan; grandsons, Joel Filipe and Simon Xavier, who filled him with joy; siblings, Maria do Ceu Bola Dias and her husband, Manuel of Portugal and Adilia Sousa and her husband, Carlos of Canada; sisters-in-law, Maria Manuela Ferro and her husband, Joao and Rosa Ramos and her husband, Alberto all of Canada; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joao Bola Teixeira.
Manuel’s visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral will be Friday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
