Obituary

Larry Howard Duncan, 71, of Chula passed away Friday, March 29, 2019, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Ronnie Howell and the Rev. Jill Willingham officiating. Mr. Duncan will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 31, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Billy Moore, Shawn Stafford, Rocky Sellers, Paul Boyd and Simmy McKeown will serve as pallbearers.

Born May 31, 1947 in Miami, Florida, Mr. Duncan was the son of the late Howard A. Duncan and Clara Mallard Tubbs. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly D. Barstad. Before retiring, he worked for the City of Tifton Fire Department, where he served as Assistant Chief and firefighter. He attended Mount Calvary United Methodist Church in Tifton and he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a machine gunner in the Vietnam War. He loved his family and his country.

Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Lyle Duncan of Chula; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Kerri Duncan of Chula; his grandchildren, Hannah Barstad and Jordan Duncan; and one sister, Gloria D. Sellers.
