Passed away peacefully within hours of each other on March 28, 2019. They are preceded in death by their grandson Jason Bayers; Darlene’s family: parents Jelto & Dora Mammenga; brothers John & Donald Mammenga; half brother Bob Mammenga; Gerald’s family: parents Ed & Chris Bayers; sisters Judy Bayers, Joanie Schmidt & Shirley Sheldon. They are survived by their sons Jerry (Cece) & Mark; grandchildren Jessica (Tim) Leeson, Joanna Bayers, Nicole Bayers, Brittni Bayers, Tabitha Bayers & Tyler Bayers; great grandchildren Sam, Ben & Evan Leeson, & Dajanae Bayers Prince; siblings: Dave (Jeanie) Mammenga, Jewel Schmidt, Mary Ellen Mammenga & Jeanie (Ron) Roller; Gerald’s siblings: Ray & Ozzie Bayers. Gerald worked for Atlas Construction as a pile driver for 30 years; worked for the City of St. Paul for 12 years & was part owner of Polar Lounge for 35 years. Their Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Ave., North St. Paul, with visitation one hour prior to Service. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery.
