Olive E. (Nordwell) Cronin, 95, died Sunday, January 1, 2006, at St. Mary’s Healthcare Center. She had previously resided in Worcester at the Goddard House and Botany Bay Apts., after moving back to Worcester from Yarmouth. Her husband of 49 years, Francis J. Cronin, died in 1990. She leaves 2 sons, James M. Cronin and his wife Linda of Holden and Gerald F. Cronin and his wife Dorothy of Worcester; 4 grandchildren, Brian G. Cronin of Brighton, Maryellen D. Cronin of Worcester, Elizabeth Cronin of Worcester, and Anne-Marie Cronin of West Warwick, RI; and 2 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Barbara Dinoia of Jefferson; 2 step-grandsons, Lt. Douglas Army, W.F.D. of Worcester and Richard Army of Auburn; and 3 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kathleen A. Cronin, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters. Olive was born in Worcester, daughter of Olaf M. and Anna E. (Borgeson) Nordwell. She graduated from Commerce High School and after graduating from secretarial school, she was an executive secretary at the former Worcester Pressed Steel Co. Olive was a long-time member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was an avid bridge player and loved to crochet.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 4, with a calling hour at 10:30 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. followed by a 12:00 noon funeral service at Wesley United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, N. Grafton.
