Obituary

Edward D. “Ted” Draper, age 82, of Canton passed away on March 25th at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School. Ted attended the Culinary Institute of America and after graduating opened his own restaurant, The Pickle Barrel. After Ted sold The Pickle Barrel he worked as a chef at a number of restaurants and then as the Director of Food Services at several healthcare institutions. He loved to cook for family and friends and frequently hosted Sunday dinners. Ted was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed running, walking and hiking. He was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and was proud to have hiked all of the 4000 footers in New Hampshire. Ted was also an avid gardener and enjoyed sitting on his patio reading surrounded by his various plants, flowers and waterfalls.

Beloved husband of Mary P. “Pat”. Father of Marianne Edwards of NY, Edward D. Draper, Jr. of N.H. and Alicia Anderson and her husband Bill of GA. Brother of the late Jody Draper and Thomas “Tim” Draper. Grandfather of Jake and Lucas Edwards, Nicholas and Zachary Draper, Meghan Burke and her husband Tye and Katherine Anderson. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton will be on Monday April 1st from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The visitation will conclude with time for family and friends to share remembrances of Ted. Burial private.
