Maureen Elizabeth (Gannon) Simonelli, age 81, of Winchester, formerly of Medford, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 26, 2019.
Born County Leitrim, Ireland, on St. Patrick’s Day, Maureen was the daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret (Gormley) Gannon. She was raised and educated in Ireland, and came over to the U.S.A. on the Queen Mary in 1960, at the age of 22.
She settled in Medford, where she raised her family. A homemaker, she was dedicated to her children and grandchildren. She loved her family immeasurably, and they gave it back immensely. She will be remembered for how she continuously exemplified the meaning of family and loved being around them.
Maureen was the beloved mother of Michael Simonelli and his wife Resa of North Reading, Marianne Becht and her husband Joe of Winchester, and the devoted grandmother of Michael and Taylor Simonelli, Kate, Maggie and Nora Becht. She was also the dear sister of Terry Gannon, Peter Gannon, Margaret Donaghy, Charlie McKenna, Mary McKenna, Eileen Finn, Teresa Pacey, John McKenna and the late Tom McKenna.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for visitation at the Costello Funeral Home 177 Washington St., Winchester on Saturday, March 30th from 9:00-10:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester, at 11:00 AM.
