Obituary

Francis S. Caldwell, 86, died Sunday, January 1, at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. Known as both “Brother” and “Bumpa” to his friends, he was the husband of the late Lillian M. (O’Neil) Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell was born in Boston and raised in Roxbury and a graduate of Mission High School. He was a resident of Stoughton for the past 51 years. He worked as a bartender at Griffin’s and at Sullivan’s both in Forest Hills. He has been retired for many years. In his free time, Mr. Caldwell enjoyed baseball, sports and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Carol A. Pickering of Easton, Alan S. of Stoughton and Rita M. Caldwell of FL. He was the brother of Catherine Caldwell of Arlington. He was the grandfather of Robert & Kevin Pickering, Ann-Marie Basara, and Jenna & Timothy Caldwell. He was also the great grandfather of Sarah, Skyler, Jack, Kayla and Sierta. He was predeceased 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, January 5 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Donations in Bumpa’s name may be made to the St. James Youth Ministry, 560 Page St., Stoughton, 02072. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
