Dartmouth – Dezideria (Gouveia) De Araujo, age 94, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Augusto De Araujo. She was born in Porto de Mós, Portugal to Abel and Piedade (daSilva) Gouveia.
She is survived by her children, Isabel Santos and her husband, Joaquim of Dartmouth, Teresa Santos of Portugal, Abel Araujo and his wife, Ana, Victor Araujo and his wife, Gloria and Joe Araujo and his wife, Maria all of Dartmouth, Paul De Araujo and his partner, David Medeiros of New Bedford; as well as 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Carlos De Araujo and the sister of the late Celeste Gouveia and Armindo Gouveia.
Dezideria’s visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening, March 26, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her funeral will be Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
