Katherine (Viger) Fernandes, 90, of New Bedford died Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Hathaway Manor after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Salvador Fernandes.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Margaret (Murray) Viger, she lived in New Bedford for all of her life.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
Kathy enjoyed dancing and spending time with her friends and family. She shared a special relationship with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proud of her Irish heritage and her smile and blue eyes would light up any room that she entered.
She is survived by three children, Kathleen Genden, Michael Fernandes and his wife Jeralyn, and Sal Fernandes; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughters, Dorene Fernandes and Kim Marie Bennett; her daughter-in-law, Theresa Fernandes; and her son-in-law, Lawrence Genden.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM.
