Obituary

WORCESTER-Alfred J. Haggar, 85, of 10 Hemlock Street, formerly of Dartmouth Street, died Sunday, January 1st in UMass Memorial Healthcare. He leaves his wife 52 years Rita J. (Mercier) Haggar and many loving nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

He was born in Worcester the son of Charles and Anna (Risk) Hajjer, attended Worcester Public Schools and served as a sergeant in the Army during World War 2. Mr. Haggar had owned and operated the Hajjer Spa, and later been employed at the former Heald Machine and Worcester Municipal Airport. Mr. Haggar enjoyed golfing and summering with his wife in Kennebunk, ME.

The funeral is Thursday, January 5th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours are Wednesday, January 4th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
