Obituary

STANDISH, MAINE- Barbara Louise Gegg-Kelley, known as Bunchy, passed away on March 20, 2019. She was the incredible mother of Michelle Anne Kelley-Caswell and Colleen Erin Kelley, both of Standish, Maine. Born in Colon, Panama on October 2, 1939, she was educated at Cristobal High School and later at St. Lawrence University. She moved to Maine in the 60’s and enjoyed performing with the Bangor Savoyards and Community Theatre, being a Water Safety Instructor/Lifeguard and a phenomenal Cook at the family business of Big John’s Lobster Pot in Brewer. In the late 70’s, Bunchy moved to Cape Cod, worked at the Sea Crest and eventually started commuting to Boston to begin her amazing career in law firms, including 20 plus years at Foley Hoag LLC. Finally, in 2013, she retired and moved back to Maine to live on Watchic Lake so she could be close to her kids and look at something pretty every day. Bunchy was an incredibly warm and caring person who wanted to make the world a better place. She will be remembered for her love of friends, her generosity towards anyone who needed anything and to the community through her giving, and as a dedicated hard worker. She loved her dogs, traveling, playing games, sports - especially the Boston Red Sox, community theatre, cooking & baking. However, it was her love of family and her ambitions as a lifelong learner that will be remembered most. Bunchy is predeceased by her parents - Robert and Violet (Dixon) Gegg; her loving step mother - Anne Mary (Dowd) Gegg; brother - Donald Gegg of FL; and sister- Katherine Anne Gegg of Panama. She is survived by her children - Michelle Anne Kelley-Caswell and her husband Mark R. Caswell and Colleen Erin Kelley; her children’s father - John Lincoln Kelley; brother - Steven R. Gegg and his wife Chris; six nieces and one nephew. A celebration of her life will be held at her home on May 18th, 2019 Online condolence messages can be submitted at the Chad E.
