Obituary

Robert C. Collet, 86, of New Bedford died March 18, 2019 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Marie A. (Bergeron) Collet, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Nantucket, son of the late Robert C. Collet and Loretta (Benjamin) Horsfall, step-son of the late Amos Horsfall, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Collet was formerly employed by Rodney Metals for 40 years until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Army and later served 34 years in the National Guard retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events and traveling. Mr. Collet was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Jane M. Kelly and her husband Mike Riessen of Fort Myers, FL and Susan A. DeCoste and her husband Paul J. DeCoste, Jr. of Somerset; 2 sons, Robert D. Collet and his wife Patricia of Myrtle Beach, SC and David J. Collet and his wife Michelle of Carver; 2 brothers, Donald Collet of New Bedford and Michael Horsfall of Cocoa Beach, FL; 2 sisters, Theresa Krenmayer of Melbourne, FL and Cynthia Lindquist of Rochester, NY; 8 grandchildren, Christopher Collet, Adam Collet, Kyle DeCoste, Drew DeCoste, Jack Kelly, Michael Collet, Andrew Collet and Jennifer Collet; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at 9 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, March 22nd from 5-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
