William Walter (Bill) Dent, Jr., 72, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Sunday, January 1, 2006, at Palemon Gaskin Nursing Home, Ocilla, GA.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at 11 A.M. at Ocilla United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Osbourn and Franklin Broadhurst officiating. Interment will follow in Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, January 3, 2006, from 7 to 9 P.M .
Mr. Dent was born May 15, 1933 in Ocilla, Georgia to the late William Walter and Zoe Betts Dent. He lived in Griffin, Georgia for eight years before returning permanently to Ocilla. He served in the US Army Signal Corps during the Korean War Era. He was a retired egg farmer and former Public Relations and Customer Service Representative for Osmos Wood Preservatives. Mr. Dent was a member of Ocilla United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher for children ages 12 to 15 and provided leadership for the purchase of a new organ. He was a former member of the Irwin County Library Board of Directors and instrumental in the building of the new Irwin County Library.
Mr. Dent is survived by WIFE: Jean Dent, Ocilla, Georgia; SON: Greg Dent,RPh., Ocilla; DAUGHTER: Paige Dawson, RPh.,Hawkinsville; and 3 GRANDCHILDREN: Laura, Kevin, and David Dawson, all of Hawkinsville.
