Obituary

Kaliope Malliaroudakis passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16 in Canton, MA. She was just shy of her 87tbirthday. Kalie was a gentle, quiet lady that thought the good in everyone and she was respected by all. Those who knew Kalie loved her smile, laughter and willingness to just go along with the crowd and enjoy social gatherings and travel. She had an easy going nature, pure heart and was very committed to God, caring for her parents, children and extended family of many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her children George Malliaroudakis and Claire Patras as well as their spouses Doria Malliaroudakis and Charles Patras. Kalie was also blessed with three loving grandchildren. A miracle of triplets: Charles, Jamie and George Patras. She was predeceased by her parents Christos and Hariklia Scumniotales and her brother Peter Scumniotales as well as her beloved husband of 23 years James Malliaroudakis . She met and married James in 1962, and became a beloved wife and mother. Sadly, her husband became ill and passed very early in life leaving Kalie with 2 young children to raise on her own. Although her life was not easy, she was a woman of strength, conviction and faith. She kept a positive attitude with the philosophy of living life one day at a time.
Kalie was born in Haverhill MA where she grew up working in her family’s shoe factory business alongside her parents and brother. She attended Secretarial School and worked as a secretary for the board of appeals and the Canton Conservation Committee for the town of Canton. She also worked as a secretary as the Hellenic Benevolent Association for 29 years. She made many friends and enjoyed this tremendously. With loyalty and commitment to her work, she was a huge asset to the Hellenic Nursing home. She also was instrumental in helping run her own Printing business while her husband was living.
Throughout her life, Kalie was very active in the Greek Orthodox Churches of Haverhill, Quincy, and Mansfield community as she shared her time and treasures through volunteering on various projects and organizations. Kalie was driven to getting the job done, working hard and never missed a day. She always believed in accountability, respecting and caring for her elders and in doing the right thing in life. She set an excellent example for her children and grandchildren helping mold who they are today.
Her life here on earth will be celebrated as she will now be in peace with the Lord with no more pain or suffering. We rejoice the gates of heaven opening to welcome her. May her Memory be Eternal.
