Obituary

CHICOPEE ~ Paul A. Donaldson, 71, of the Arbors in Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center West in Chicopee. He was born in Springfield on May 20, 1947, a beloved son of the late Arba G. "Buster" Donaldson, Jr. and Rita C. (Desjeans) Donaldson. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School in 1965 and had lived in Springfield for many years before moving to Chicopee in 1992. He furthered his education and received an Associate's Degree in Computer Programming from the Andover Institute of Business. He was employed for over 25 years by the former Steiger's Department Store as the Head Receiving Clerk at their Springfield warehouse. He later worked for C & S Wholesalers in North Hatfield. Paul enjoyed playing and "singing" with his Casio keyboard, playing countless games of cribbage, telling jokes, listening to his favorite CDs and had a great love of Broadway musicals. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Rachel D. "Rae" (Beaulieu) Donaldson. They were married on June 3, 1972 at Holy Cross Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 46 years of happiness together. He also leaves his dear brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael, David and Bridget Talbot, all of Springfield; and his many dear cousins and extended family members and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his cherished adopted greyhounds that had passed away before him, Sneakers, Boots, Jasper and Rio and will be deeply missed by his faithful greyhound companion, McGee. His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private at the convenience of the family. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
