TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Janet M. (Hurley) MacGilvray, age 74, died unexpectedly at her Tewksbury home, Thursday morning, March 14, from complications of her courageous battle with diabetes. She was the beloved wife of Robert W. MacGilvray, with whom she had celebrated a fifty-sixth wedding anniversary this past December 27th.
She was born in Somerville one of four children of the late John and Marion (Jenkins) Hurley, was raised in Somerville, and graduated from Somerville High School. She and Robert raised their family in Medford before retiring to Tewksbury in 2010. Before retirement, she worked as a crossing traffic supervisor for the Medford police department.
She enjoyed crochet needlework, and especially enjoyed time with her family during holiday celebrations. She also enjoyed vacationing with her family at her timeshare in West Yarmouth, Cape Cod.
Besides her husband, she leaves her children, Bonnie Keeley and her husband John of Tewksbury, Robert W. MacGilvray Jr. of Cambridge, Diane Picciuto and her husband Louis of Stoneham, Sharon Mazaka and her husband Stephen of Medford; grandchildren, William Keeley and Melissa Keeley of Tewksbury, Michael Picciuto of Stoneham, Joseph Mazaka of Medford; siblings of Carol O’Hare and her late husband Richard of Burlington, John “Jack” Hurley and his late wife Anni of Hollis, NH, Gerald “Jerry” Hurley and his wife Julie of Tampa, FL; many nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by her parents John L.and Marion(Jenkins) Hurley .
