Obituary

Laconia-Francis J. “Duffy” Defosses, 74, of 25 Union Avenue died Saturday morning, December 31, 2005 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a brief period of failing health.

Duffy was born in Laconia on December 14, 1931 the son of the late Leon J. and Desnaige M. (Dion) Defosses. He was raised and schooled in Laconia, attending Sacred Heart School, and graduating from Laconia High School, Class of 1952. He had been a resident of Laconia and Gilford during his life.

Prior to his retirement in 1985 Duffy was employed at H. A. Wallace, Inc. in Ashland as an accountant for 25 years.

Duffy was an avid Softball player within the Laconia Softball League as a pitcher. He was a longtime member of the Lakes Region Chordsmen. In recent years he gave of his time as a full time volunteer at the Lakes Region General Hospital, something he truly enjoyed and was dedicated to. In 1994 he was honored as Volunteer of the year.

Duffy is survived by one nephew, Donald Defosses of Penacook; one cousin, Mary Jane Rivest of Bristol; and his dear friends Marilyn and Paul Lamere and family of Laconia, and Donna Johnson and her family of Sanbornton.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Gary J. Kosmowski pastor of the church celebrated the mass. Family and friends were invited to attend. Spring burial was May 6, 2006 in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia. There were no visiting hours.
