New Bedford – Diniz S. Manteiga, age 86, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Royal Taber Street Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of the late Maria T. (Vital) Manteiga.
Diniz was born in St. Michael, Azores to Joao and Maria Sao Christo (Rodrigues) Manteiga. He had been employed as a weaver for Satkin Mills. Diniz loved to watch soccer with his favorite team Sporting.
He is survived by his daughter, Rita Pine and her husband John; grandchildren, David Pine and his wife, Janice, Stephanie Pine and her companion, Bryan Nadeau; great grandchildren, Jaxon Fernandes and Harrison Pine; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Liduina DaSilva and Manuel Manteiga.
Diniz’s visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral will be Wednesday morning, beginning at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
