Ernest B. Sheffield, Jr., 72, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at the VA Medical Center, Dublin, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, January 9, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Mr. Sheffield was born April 15, 1933, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Ernest Brant and Beatrice King Sheffield. He lived in the community most of his life. Mr. Sheffield served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War Era. He was a former employee of St. Regis Paper Company in Jacksonville, FL and Monticello, MS. Mr. Sheffield was a member of Pine Level United Methodist Church and the American Legion.
Mr. Sheffield is survived by a son: Ernest Brant Sheffield, III of Fitzgerald; one brother: David M. Sheffield of Baton Rouge, LA; three sisters: Edith S. Hall of Jacksonville, FL, Marlene S. Parrish of Florence, AL and Patricia Ann Sitton of Fitzgerald; Granddaughter: Shannon Sheffield, Fitzgerald; Stepsister: Eunice S. Kuyper of Tallahassee, FL; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Sheffield was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Sheffield.
