James N. Delivorias
1932 – 2019
Springfield – James Nicholas Delivorias, also known as Jimmy Davis, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Renaissance Manor in Holyoke on March 5, 2019. He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas Delivorias and Helen (Maniatty) Delivorias; his son Nicholas Delivorias who passed away in April of 2016; his brothers Philip Davis and William “Billy” Davis and a sister Sophie Speliopoulos. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary (Hamilton) Delivorias; a daughter Elena Delivorias and her Fiancé Dennis Moore; a son Alexander Delivorias, all of Springfield; His brother Peter Delivorias of Chicopee; He also leaves his two grandchildren James Brin of South Hadley and Alexis Delivorias of Southwick; 3 sisters-in-law and a brother in law along with many nieces and nephews. Jim was born and raised in Chicopee and attended Chicopee Schools. He graduated from Chicopee High School, Class of 1949. He was a lifetime communicant of Sts Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, a member of the American Legion Post 275 and also a member of the Elks Lodge in Chicopee. He retired from the Prince Macaroni Company around 1995. He was also part owner and operator of the Pool Room in Chicopee and tended bar in several Chicopee Clubs. Jim served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1952 – 1956. He was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan as well as a Montreal Canadiens Fan. He enjoyed playing golf and achieved a few Hole in One games. He was a history Buff and a lover of old movies. He liked playing cards and especially solving crossword puzzles. He could always be found every Friday and Saturday night at his favorite Restaurant, The Red Rose. Jim was known for his wit, loud voice (He wasn’t afraid to use it and you always heard him before you saw him!) He will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was a great man, husband, father, grandfather, friend and uncle to many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at the Mercy Medical Center 5th Floor who took such great care of him during his stay, Sheryl Reynolds of Beacon Hospice and the staff at the Renaissance Manor and especially Father Ephraim Peters, a dear friend of the family, for his compassion and support. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 4:00- 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass in Sts Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sts Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, PO Box 112, Chicopee, MA 01021.
