Obituary



HOLLIS- Van Lee Morey of Hollis, Maine passed away on Saturday, March 2nd at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House with his wife and daughters by his side. Van was born on July 8, 1951 to Martina and Alfred Morey of South Hiram, Maine where Van was raised and graduated from Sacopee Valley High School.

Van was no stranger to hard work and enjoyed it. He held several positions in his adult life however took pride in owning his own business, S & K Trucking. He ran a successful business of 30 years until 2013 when cancer was first diagnosed.

Van loved the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed working on projects with his grandsons who he taught many valuable life lessons. Van was passionate about politics and was never shy to share his opinion. He always welcomed a great debate with his granddaughter. He was a loyal friend. Van will always be remembered for his hard work, endless to do lists, willingness to help anyone in need and his great devotion to his faith and family.

Van loved his family and was a dedicated husband to his wife, Donna of 47 years. His daughters and grandchildren are his pride and joy. His 2018 goal was to remain healthy enough to attend his eldest grandson’s wedding and did so by attending with his entire family and had a wonderful time.

Van will be greatly missed by his family and dear friends. Van is survived by his wife, Donna Morey, his daughter, Sheri Turner and her husband Rick Turner of Hollis. His daughter Kimberly Piccone and her husband Mark Piccone of California. His Grandchildren, Chris Tarbox and his wife Becca Tarbox of Hollis. Kyle Reese and his wife Victoria Reese stationed in North Carolina. Brandon Tarbox of Hollis. Rachel Reese of California. Conner Reese also stationed in North Carolina. Ricky Turner of Buxton, Evan and Sophia Piccone of California.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday March 5 from 6 – 8 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. A service to celebrate Van’s life will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at the Hollis Center Church, 388 Hollis Road (Rt. 202) Hollis. Burial will be held in the spring.
