Obituary


BUXTON- Ida Evelyn Szostak, age 93, passed away peacefully in Buxton on March 1, 2019.
She was born in Masardis, Maine on Aug. 9, 1925, a daughter of the late Clarence and Lillie (Burleigh) Rockwell. She grew up on a large potato farm and attended Exeter, ME schools.
During her working years, Ida worked at the Dana Warp and Westbrook Spinning Mills. During WWII, she worked at the South Portland Shipyard.
She will always be remembered for taking care of her home, the pleasure she found in flowers, bird, and plants; however, her love of family was what was most important to her.
She is predeceased by her husband- John Szostak; and her siblings- Carl Rockwell, Clara Tedford, Lila Henderson, Hazel Robichaud and Florence Winslow; and a granddaughter- Crystal Seger.
Ida is survived by her children- Rita Seger and her husband John of Gorham, Evie York of Buxton, and Ricky York and his wife Vicky of Gorham; grandchildren- John Seger Jr and his fiancé Christine, Dana Roberts, PJ Blanchette and his fiancé Haley, Ethan Blanchette and his wife Stephanie, Alex York, and Aric York; and great grandchildren- William Bessette and his fiancé Natasha, Tyler Seger, Imara Blanchette, and Zoey; one expected great granddaughter- Stasia Blanchette; and a great great granddaughter- Libby.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
