Josephine (Duarte) Gravelle, 85, of New Bedford died December 28, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Joseph Gravelle.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Spencer) Duarte, she had lived in New Beford for most of her life.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Gravelle enjoyed Bingo, going to Foxwoods and writing children's poetry. She was the greatest mother, wife and friend.
Survivors include 4 sons, Gary Gravelle, Steven Gravelle, Arthur Gravelle and Dennis Gravelle, all of New Bedford; 6 daughters, Annette LaChance of Bridgewater, Geraldine Gravelle and Vanessa Evans, both of Attleboro, Brenda DoCarmo of Florida, Michelle Alexander of Providence, RI, and Sandra Brown of Rhode Island; 2 sisters, Antonia Soares of Colorado and Elizabeth Duarte of New Bedford; several sons-in-law; daughters-in-law; sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Camille Gravelle and Edouarde Gravelle.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Saturday, December 31st at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Friday, December 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
Interment Pine Grove Cemetery.
