Obituary

Mr. Edward T. Sherry, of Wilmington, formerly of Medford and beloved husband of Mary Ellen (Smith) Sherry, passed away at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Tuesday morning, February 19, 2019. He was 82 years old.

Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on April 17, 1936, he was the beloved son of the late Thomas and Blanche (Lofgren) Sherry. Mr. Sherry was an Army veteran, entering the military at Boston, Massachusetts, on September 11, 1953 and recieving his honorable discharge from Fort Dix, New Jersey on September 12, 1956. Mr. Sherry attained the rank of SP-3 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. In civilian life, Ed worked for the US Postal Service. He had worked at the Allston and Brighton Postal Offices and retired from the West Medford Postal Office. In his spare time, Ed enjoyed bowling, playing pool and horse racing. He was also an avid Bruins fan and held season tickets for many years. He will be dearly missed.

Besides his beloved wife, Mary Ellen, he is survived by his loving sons; Richard E. and his wife Lauren Sherry of Rancho Palos Verdes, California and James M. and his wife Pamela S. Sherry of Stoneham and four cherished grandsons; Mark, Patrick, Ian and Kyle Sherry.

His funeral service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 3:30 PM. Visitation will be held in the funeral home, prior to the service, at 2 PM. Interment will be privately held at a later date.
