Obituary

MSGT Otis Leslie Cantrell, 82, of Alexandria died on February 19, 2019 at Community Hospital following an extended illness.

He was born on August 2, 1936 in Paynesville, West Virginia to Wilburn and Lady Belle (Rowe) Cantrell.

He retired as a MSGT after 20 years with the United States Air Force and 22 plus years as a Veteran representative with Indiana Workforce Development in Marion, IN.

He was a 1954 graduate of Iaeger High School in West Virginia. He loved to garden, bowl, listen and play music especially the guitar. He was awarded as a Distinguished Hoosier in 2003 by Gov. Frank O'Bannon. He was awarded two Air Force Commendation Medals and Meritorious Service Medal. He was a lifetime member of VFW in West Virginia and Air Force Sgt. Association.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Jean (Horn) Cantrell of Alexandria whom he married on August 7, 1956 in Lebanon, Virginia. two children, David (Ann) Cantrell of Anderson and Katrinia (Michael) Trace of Sugarcreek Township, OH; daughter-in-law, Beverly Cantrell of Chesterfield; Sister, Barbara (Robert) White of Lapel, IN; six grandchildren, Jenessa (Chris) Regan of Kettering, OH, Major Christina (Dan) Balocki of Sterling, VA, Tarah (Laurence) Brown of Chicago, IL, Regina (John) Kinzfogl of Oakland, CA, Otis M. (Kari) Cantrell of Bloomington, and Megan Cantrell of Anderson; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Geoia Cantrell; a son, Jeffrey Cantrell; 6 brothers, Leonard, James, Wilson, Alex, Wilburn Jr. and Noah Cantrell; and a sister, Ella Jones.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will take place in Parkview Cemetery in Alexandria with military graveside rites.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Monday, February 25, 2019 at
Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, IN 46012.

Memorial contributions may be given to Parkinson's Foundation
