Obituary

FALL RIVER – Jaime C. DeMelo, age 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Anne’s Hospital on February 18, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Gilda (Adolfo) DeMelo. Born in Pico de Pedra, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Virgilio and Ana (Reis) DeMelo. Jaime had a passion for music and was well known for playing the accordion for the Holy Ghost. He was also an avid Benfica fan.

Along with his wife he is survived by his children Paul DeMelo (wife Marlene) of Swansea, Dora Camara (husband Carlos) of Lakeville, Ana DeMelo (fiancé Eric) of Fall River and Susan DeMelo of Fall River; siblings Januario DeMelo, Olga Cardoso, Joao DeMelo; 8 grandchildren Korynn Thompson, Ashley Raposo, Vanessa Martins, Colby DeMelo, Nathan Heald, Rockell Cyr, Ethan DeMelo and Billy Heald; 1 great-grandchild Findley Brown with 2 more great grandchildren due this summer as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Manuel, Jacinto, Natalia and Jose Luis DeMelo and Clementina Carreiro.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Friday, February 22nd here at 7:45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Santo Christo Church at 9 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
