Shirley Ann Phillips Peters, 82, of Ochlocknee passed away Monday, February 18, 2019, at Rose City Health and Rehab in Thomasville. Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Ray Dean officiating. Mrs. Peters will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 21, 2019, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
David Runkles, Chris Mercer, Philip McLaughlin Sr. and Philip McLaughlin Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
Born July 16, 1936 in Ambrose (Coffee County), Mrs. Peters was the daughter of the late Homer Phillips and Arlie Odum Phillips. She graduated from Fitzgerald High School and pursued a career in the medical field, where she worked as a CNA medical assistant. Shirley married JD Peters on October 16, 1954 and they spent 64 loving years as husband and wife. Shirley was a wonderful and devoted mother to their son, Ivey Peters and daughter, Linda McLaughlin.
Shirley is survived by her husband, JD Peters of Ochlocknee; one son and daughter-in-law, Ivey and Debbie Peters of Ochlocknee; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Philip McLaughlin Sr. of Jacksonville, Florida; her grandchildren and their spouses, Philip McLaughlin, Jr., Tina and David Runkles, Jessica Peters and Kayla and Chris Mercer; and three great-grandchildren, Laila and Paisley Runkles and Collin Mercer.
