Obituary

Earle W. Cooper, 98, of North Dartmouth, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019. He was the husband of Marjorie L. (Belyea) Cooper. He was born on February 8, 1921, son of Harold M. Cooper and Dora E. Cooper, father of Karen A. Haskell of North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Christine A. Streppa of Austin, Texas, Wayne T. Cooper of Clearwater, Florida, and the late Kurt D. Cooper; grandfather to Dennis R. Lewis, Tracy A. Ford, Michael W. Lewis, Benjamin D. Poyant, Jennifer C. Poyant ,and the late Joshua C. Poyant, and great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Ralph, Robert and Harold Cooper.

Earle was a World War II veteran of the US Navy. He survived the sinking of the Troopship Henry R. Mallory on February 7, 1943 by a German U Boat 400 miles south of Iceland. “Coop” was a proud member of the Masons for over 60 years, a member of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners. He was employed at Com-Electric-NStar in New Bedford for 29 years. Earle’s many interests included model railroading, gardening, skiing, fishing, and traveling. The family expresses its deep appreciation to the caring staff at the Autumn Glen Assisted Living Community and to Earle’s compassionate caregivers Christina Akuffo and Gina Frimpong.

The family will be planning a celebration of his life for friends and family for a date to be announced later.
