Doris E. Chambers, died Friday, February 15, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of J. Everett Chambers. They had been married for 55 years before his death in 1996.
Born in Smithfield, she was a daughter of the late George H. and Clara (Duxbury) Martin. She had lived in Smithfield her whole life.
Doris had worked for the State of RI as a clerk for 28 years before retiring in 1983.
She is survived by her children: Mary Elizabeth Swanson and her husband Carl of Coventry, James E. Chambers and his wife Kathy of Rehoboth, Massachusetts and John E. Chambers and his wife Linda of Smithfield, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Earl G. Martin, Kenneth Martin and Lillian Bishop.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, February 20th at 9am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Tuesday, February 19th 4-7pm.
