BUXTON- Mary Ellen (Waite) Townsend, age 83, passed away on February 13, 2019, at her home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born in Scarborough, Maine on February 12, 1936, the daughter of the late Lorenzo Freemont and Marcia (Eaton) Farwell.
Mary was a geriatric nurse assistant at the Pine Point Nursing Home in
Scarborough for almost thirty years, until she retired in the late eighties. She was very active at the Living Waters Christian Church where over the years she taught the youngsters and the adults.
She is predeceased by her husband, David Townsend and her two sons, Keith A. Waite and Robert O. Waite, and a grandson, Ronald Hartley. She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Kathy and John Augustine of Las Vegas, Nevada; son and his wife, Kevin and Shelly Waite of Schenectady, New York; 7 grandchildren- Melissa Elkanich and Beth Waite; Denis, Richard and Robert Hartley and Martha Judkins; 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Much heartfelt love and appreciation goes to Peter, Kristy and Aaron Mills and Donna and Brad Emerson, whom all became a part of our family and were her care givers.
A memorial service will be held at the Living Waters Christian Church at
197 Parker Farm Road in Buxton on Friday, February 22nd at 6 PM.
