Roy L. Collins, age 59, of Mansfield, formerly of West Roxbury and Roslindale, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the beloved husband of Donna M. (Arrigo) Collins, to whom he was wed for the past thirty-one years.
Born in Boston, MA on December 6, 1959, he was a loving son of the late Frederick L., Sr. and Marion I. (MacDowell) Collins.
Roy grew up in the Roslindale and West Roxbury neighborhoods of Boston and was a 1977 graduate of West Roxbury High School. He furthered his education, attending Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown.
A resident of Mansfield for the past twenty-six years, Roy had been employed as a Contract Specialist for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation in Boston, prior to retiring.
Roy’s family was truly the focal point of his life. He was a member of the Mansfield Lodge of Elks, was an ardent New England sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted daughter Ashley Collins of Mansfield and his cherished granddaughter Hailey. He was the dear brother of Frederick L. Collins, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Raynham, Lillian M. Starratt of Middleboro and the late Judy Groves.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, February 15th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 14th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
