Obituary

AGAWAM ~ Leila (Succar) Abdala, 62, of Agawam and a former longtime resident of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Friday, February 8, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving children. She was born in Becharre, Lebanon on February 14, 1956, a beloved daughter of the late Yousef Succar and Josephine (Baraket Rahme) Succar. She was raised in Lebanon and legally immigrated to the United States in 1977, settling with her late husband, George, in Springfield. She was a faithful communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield. She was a member of the Saint Anthony Women’s Guild and a longtime volunteer for her parish. She was a wonderful cook and prepared a plethora of Lebanese delicacies. What’s more, she was a wonderful woman who loved her church and adored her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate of 40 years, Attorney George S. Abdala who was Called Home on July 5, 2018. She leaves her two loving children, Nelson G. Abdala of Agawam and Attorney Dianna L. Abdala, of Boston; her three cherished sisters, Diana Succar, Marie Therese Succar Zina and her husband, Joseph Zina, and Vicki Khoury Rahme and her husband, Antoine Khoury Rahme, all of Lebanon; her two loving brothers-in-law, Josef Rahme and Toni Rahme, both of Lebanon; her loving sister-in-law, Marianne Semaan Succar of Lebanon; and her many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the Abdala and Succar families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two loving sisters, Sonia Succar Rahme and Nawal Rahme; and her loving brother, Tony Succar. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. There are no visiting hours.
