Obituary




Mary L. (Egan) Needham, 88, of Worcester died, January 31st in Notre Dame Long Term Care Center with her loving children by her side. Her husband of 50 years, John P. Needham died in 2009. She leaves her son, Thomas J. Needham, her daughter, Mary Pat Martella and her husband, David all of Worcester; three grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan and Gianna; her daughter-in-law, Christina L. Troiano of Worcester; her cousin, Helen Milewski of Worcester, who was like a sister to her; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her son Kevin P. Needham and two brothers, Robert and John Egan.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of John and Catherine (Callinan) Egan; and was a graduate of St. Stephens High School. Mary had worker as a switchboard operator for Hanover Insurance before retiring. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and served as Eucharistic Minister there. Mary will be remembered for her apple pies as well as her devotion and dedication to her family.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Notre Dame Long Term Care Center for the outstanding care provided to Mary during her stay there.

Her funeral is Monday, February 4th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with her funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, February 3rd from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
