Obituary

WORCESTER___Anne M. (Pakenas) Stanavich, 99, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 29, 2019 in St. Vincent Hospital. Her husband of 58 years, Joseph Stanavich died in 2008.

She is survived by her devoted daughter and caregiver Janet and by nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by another daughter, Carolyn Griffin. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Helen Osper and Frances Winn and by her brother, Alec Valentine. Anne was born in Worcester on January 16, 1920 the daughter of Peter and Antonina (Rutkunas) Valentine Pakenas. A lifelong city resident Anne graduated from the former Commerce High School. She worked at various manufacturing companies prior to her marriage.

Anne was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, bowling, shopping, dancing and bingo. She was also an avid fan of the Boston Celtics and Red Sox. Anne was a devout Catholic and faithful viewer of the Daily Mass. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Parish and the former St. Casimir and St. Margaret Mary parishes.

The funeral will be held on Monday February 4, 2019 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in St. Stephen Church, 357 Grafton Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday February 3, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M.
