Obituary

GRANBY ~ Henri E. Forget, 89, a longtime resident of Granby, was Called Safely Home on Monday, January 21, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at the home he loved surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving wife, Sylvia and lifelong friend, Lorraine Leger. He was born at home on McKinstry Avenue in the Aldenville section of Chicopee on October 21, 1929, a beloved son of the late Dollard and Anna (Leblond) Forget. He was raised in Aldenville and moved to Granby in 1954 where he lived for the remainder of his life. Active in Granby politics, Henri served on the Board of Health, the Board of Assessors, the Voter Registration Committee, the Board of Appeals, the Democratic Town Committee, and as a volunteer member of the Granby Firefighter’s Association. He served his country in the Massachusetts National Guard, first with the 26th Yankee Infantry Division from 1947-1951 and subsequently, with the 131st Fighter Squadron from 1952-1955. He was the co-owner of Sylvia’s Kitchen and Bath Design in Granby. During his leisure time, he enjoyed collecting Crackle Glass. He was an avid New England Patriots fan. As a young man, he joined the Knights of Columbus and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby. Most of all, he was a quiet hardworking man who provided for his wife and family. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate of over 49 years, Sylvia T. (McGregor) Forget; his loving daughter, Debra Ann Thomas and her husband, Thomas Paul Thomas III, of Venice FL; his loving son, Charles E. Forget and his wife, Adrianne Forget, of Chicopee; his three cherished grandchildren, Thomas Paul Thomas IV, Jason Henri Thomas and Gwen M. Forget; his sister-in-law, Alice P. Forget of Chicopee; his brother-in-law, Eric McGregor and his wife, Kelly, of Ludlow; his sister-in-law, Joni McGregor; and his many extended members of the Forget and McGregor families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two dear brothers, Leo G. Forget and Roger D. Forget.
His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 4 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
