Obituary

Ruth Louise (Crovo) Estes, 96, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 surrounded by her family at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Estes and daughter of the late John Augustus and Florence (Wolfe) Crovo. She was born on April 11, 1922 in Brockton, raised and educated in Rockland, Massachusetts. Ruth was a resident of Brockton for many years. She worked numerous jobs in her life and retired at the age of 80 from the YMCA in Brockton. Ruth was very talented at knitting and crocheting. She made many beautiful afghans for family and friends. She was a great cook and baker. Her specialty was the pie crust that made her pies so good. She loved gardening, especially her roses and tomatoes. Ruth enjoyed getting together with family and friends to play a card game called 45. She loved the ocean, the Cape Cod Canal and fried clams. But, most of all, she loved being with her family during the holidays and summer cook outs. She’ll always be remembered for being a tenacious, authentic and courageous individual. She was the amazing knowledgeable matriarch of our family.

Ruth was the beloved mother of Janice Silvia and the late Dan Silvia of Middleboro, Suzanne Peltier and her late husband Michael of Middleboro, John Estes and his wife Donna of Bridgewater, Edward Estes of Taunton and Charlene Estes of Port St. Lucie, Florida, the late Shelley Peltier, Victoria Estes of Fall River and Regina Bissonnette and her husband Scott of Wareham. Ruth was the sister to the late John (Jack) Crovo, Bill Crovo and Roy Crovo. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be private and held at a later date.
