FALL RIVER…Leonor R. (Chaves) Chaves, 73, of Fall River passed away January 26, 2019 at the Somerset Ridge Center.
She was the widow of Gualter Chaves.
Born in Santa Maria Azores, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Deolinda (Rego) Chaves and had lived in Fall River since 1978.
Mrs. Chaves was a communicant of Espirito Santo Church and had worked for 12 years at A. J. Wright. She enjoyed spending time with her dog, Buddy.
Survivors include her son: Celio Chaves and his fiancée, Laurie Hubert of Fall River; her sister: Maria Helena Chaves of Montreal, Canada; her brothers: Jose Chaves of Tiverton and Manuel Chaves of Montreal, Canada; several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Beatriz Rego, Maria Lourdes Arruda, Laura Batista, Ermelinda Cabral and Conceicao Chaves.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 at 9 AM from the South Coast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River, MA 02723 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5 – 8 PM.
