Obituary

Connerney, Edward P. Age 88, on Jan 24, 2019 at Briarwood Nursing Home-Needham. Born and raised in Brighton, he then lived in West Roxbury, Stoughton, and Dedham. Beloved son of the late Francis J. and Mary E. (Rooney) Connerney. Predeceased by his four siblings: Francis J., Thomas R., and Joseph M. Connerney; and Mary R. Tierney. He leaves his sister Alice Drew of Newton, his brother William R. of Needham, and many nieces and nephews.           

Ed served with honor in the US Air Force in Korea during the Korean War. In civilian life, he worked for both Wilson Sporting Goods in Newton and Morse Shoe in Brockton. Ed found great pleasure in music, particularly playing the piano. Noted for his quick wit, he enjoyed lively debate and discussions with family and friends. For many years he worshipped at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Stoughton, where he was a cherished member of the coffee group.

Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 1305 Highland Ave. Needham on Tuesday, January 29th from 10-11am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, Needham at 11:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Edward’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
