Ruth E. Johnson, 95, of Scituate formerly of Whitman and Halifax, passed away Friday January 25th in the Life Care of the South Shore after a period of failing health. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Lettie (Whyman) Johnson.
Ruth was a longtime resident of Whitman and a graduate of Whitman High Class of 1942.She lived in Halifax until 2017. She worked for the Walkover Shoe Company in Brockton for many years.
She was very active with the Whitman and Abington Seniors, the YMCA in East Bridgewater, a member of the Halifax Mobile Travel Club and the Halifax Assoc. Ruth was also an avid Bingo player.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Harry, Herbert, Alfred, Warren and Edward Johnson, Elizabeth Paulin, Ethel Murphy, Margaret Bouldry and Lillian Duckfield.
Her funeral services will be held on Thursday January 31st at 9:45AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel followed by a mass at 10:30AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the St James Cemetery, Whitman. Visitation will be on Wednesday January 30th from 3:00-5:00PM
