Mr. Joe Sterling McKenney, beloved husband of the late Helen McKenney, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, January 25, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Mr. McKenney was a long-time member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, where he was Deacon Emeritus and attended the Wilkerson Sunday School class. He was a retired electrician with G&R Electric and a US Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his children; Alan McKenney (Anne), Rhonda Evans (Fred) and Wayne McKenney (Tina), his sister; Mary Thompson, his grandchildren; Adam McKenney (Lauren), Jennifer Washington (Rusty), Emily Bryant (Robbie), Brett McKenney (Kelley) and Chris McKenney, four great grandchildren; and sister in law, Sue McKenney. In addition to his wife, Helen, he was preceded in death by his brother, Walter McKenney and his sister, Elizabeth Dykes.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, January 28, 2019 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.
