Obituary

Barbara Martin Hescock of Ashland, 66, was taken to heaven too soon, on January 22, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. A force of nature born in Utica, New York to William Martin and Dorothy Merritt Martin, she grew up as chief mischief maker in Stittville, New York before love brought her to Massachusetts. Later, she forged a successful career in alumni development at Babson College then Brandeis University, and marketing at Suffolk Construction.

Barbara made life more beautiful for everyone around her while fearlessly doing things her way—with a sharp wit and no regrets. She was an incredibly gifted athlete, gardener, interior decorator, and baker of the most delicious and creative cupcakes and pies. The ultimate host, she took great joy in entertaining, and was quick to welcome all into her home with open arms. Barbara loved music, dancing and a nice glass of Pinot Gris.

Barbara and Gregory Hescock met in 1970, married in 1976, and were in love and inseparable for almost 50 years. They raised three girls, lived life to the fullest, and laughed (a lot). She was “Mimi” to six grandchildren who considered her magical as she managed to make every day special, from holidays and birthdays to any given Tuesday. Barbara is survived by daughters Amber Hescock Johnson (Cody and Stella), Emily Hescock (Keith, James and Chase Proia), and Corinne McKenzie (Colin, Gavin, Graham and Caleb), her brother, Bil Martin, and five nieces. She is predeceased by her nephew Charlie Martin. She will be fiercely missed by all who knew her.

Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday January 28 from 5-8:00 pm, at John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common.
