SOMERSET – Mary Slusack, age 87 of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 peacefully with her loving family by her side. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Walter J. Slusack and the daughter of the late Antonio S. & Maria (Cabral) Manteiga.
Prior to retiring, Mary worked as a Loan Officer at Fall River Municipal Employees Credit Union for many years. During her retirement, Mary was employed by Silvia’s Florist & Gifts. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of Santo Christo Credit Union. She was also a parishioner of St. John of God Church.
She is survived by her daughter Cynthia O’Rourke and her husband James J. O’Rourke Jr. of Somerset; her beloved granddaughters; Megan and Jennifer O’Rourke; two sisters: Theresa Moniz of Somerset and Madeline Jacobson of California; and many nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late Hilda Mendonca, Odilia Silvia, John Manteiga, and Francis Richards.
Mary’s funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Monday, Jan. 28th here at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours on Sunday, Jan. 27th from 2-5 P.M.
