Guadalupe Maria Martorana, “Lupe”, a long-time resident of Medford passed away peacefully in the company of her loving family on Monday. She was 83. Born and raised in Mexico City, she was the daughter of the late Quintin and Guadalupe Cruz. At age 19 she met and fell in love with her husband who was a student and star football player in Mexico. The two were married and eventually resettled in Medford. Lupe was a devoted wife and mother who raised her large family in North Medford. A wonderful neighbor and friend to many, Lupe went to work once her children were raised. For several years she worked with the data operation department of Cross Country. She and Guy truly enjoyed each other’s company, loved going to the movies, travelling and taking cruises.
The beloved wife of the late Gaetano “Guy” Martorana, she was a devoted mother to Guy Martorana of Birmingham, AL and his late wife Judy, Allan Martorana and his wife Ann Marie of Medford, Craig Martorana and his partner Bette Gilmore of Everett, Roger Martorana and his wife Nina of Arlington, Michelle Berluti and her husband Robert of Westwood, David Martorana and his wife Jocelyn of Naples, FL and James Martorana and his wife Suzanne of Windham, NH. She is lovingly survived by 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was also a dear sister of Grace Trotta of Somerville and also leaves many dear relatives in Mexico.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday January 28th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family on Sunday from 4 – 8 PM.
