Obituary

Gerard J. Lacasse, age 86, passed away on Jan. 17, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 27, 1932 in St Gervais, Quebec, Canada, a son of the late Eugene and Lea (Cameron) Lacasse. Gerard came to the United States when he was in his 20’s and after several jobs working construction, he began his own business, K&L Concrete Service, pouring foundations. He was the owner and operator of K&L for over 40 years before he retired. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Elder Council # 69 in Chicopee and a long time communicant of Assumption Church. He is predeceased by his wife Rita (Aubin) Lacasse, who passed away on Oct. 8, 2004. He is survived by his son Gerard Lacasse Jr of Springfield; his daughter Joanne Maryea and her husband Kenneth of West Springfield; 4 grandchildren, Kyra MacDonald, Beau Lacasse, Cameron and Connor Maryea and one great grandchild, Maverick MacDonald. He is pre-deceased by his siblings Marie-Blanche, Charles Eugene, Paul, Adrienne, Joseph (Pete), Louis, Francois, Michele, Marie, Antoine and Ernest. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday Jan. 26, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Assumption Church at 11:00 AM.
