Charles R. Budryk
Retired Cambridge Firefighter
TEWKSBURY: Charles R. Budryk, age 77, a resident of Tewksbury for over 45 years, passed away at home in the care of his family and Lahey Health at Home Hospice on Friday, January 18, 2019.
He was the beloved husband of Frances D. (Santa Maria) Budryk with whom he would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on May 20, 2019.
Born in Cambridge on March 4, 1941, he was the son of the late Peter Budryk and the late Rosalie (Medeiros) Budryk.
Charlie was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High & Latin School in 1958.
In 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard and served until his honorable discharge on January 10, 1966.
Prior to his retirement, he served as acting Lieutenant for the Cambridge Fire Department, where he worked for 18 years.
Charlie was a member of the Tewksbury D.A.V. Post # 110 and the Tewksbury American Legion Post # 259.
During his retirement years, he spent the winter months in Sarasota, FL, where he loved playing a round of golf and working at the Sarasota Golf Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Patricia Ferdinand and her husband George of Tewksbury, Bonnie Budryk of Nahant, and Robert C. Budryk of Tewksbury; six grandchildren, Breanna, Ross and Sean Budryk, Elise (Holmes) Cook and Kristina Holmes, and Alexandria Scally; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Peter Budryk and his wife Eleanor of Orleans, William Budryk of Cambridge, and Francis “Franky” Budryk of Fairhaven.
Calling hours are Monday, Jan. 21, from 3-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Dorothy’s Church, cor, of Main & Harnden Sts., Wilmington.
