Obituary

William J. Walker, III, 58, of Smithfield, died Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at his home. He was the husband of Jane E. (Collins) Walker. They had been married for 30 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of William J. Walker, Jr. of Greenville and the late Mary (Rigney) Walker. Bill had lived in Smithfield his whole life.

He was the Shop Foreman and Master Mechanic for the Town of Smithfield for 25 years.

Bill had spent many years coaching for the Smithfield Little League and could often be found after work taking care of the many ball fields in Smithfield preparing for the evening’s games. He was a proud father and dedicated fan of the Hendricken Hawks baseball team. He later followed his son’s college career at the University of Hartford playing for the Hartford Hawks.

Besides his wife and father, Bill is survived by his son, William “Billy” Walker, IV, of Clemmons, North Carolina and his fiancée, Lauren Giarusso.

A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Visitation will be Monday 4-7pm in Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Please omit flowers.
