Obituary

John Patrick Driscoll Jr., fun-loving, man of faith and family passed suddenly on Monday, January 14, 2019. He was the devoted husband of Kathleen (Downey) Driscoll with whom he shared 35 years of marriage. Together, they were blessed with three children of whom he is survived: a son, Patrick M. Driscoll, of Chelmsford, daughter Caitlin and her husband John Gallagher of Conway, South Carolina, and daughter Colleen Driscoll, of Billerica. He was the proud, fun-loving, zombie-hunting “Grampy” of Logan and Payton Gallagher, and Ryan Florentino. He is also survived by his sisters Joanne Collins of Wilmington, Margaret (Peggy) Kimball of Saugus, and Laurie Boisvert and husband Leo, of Townsend, and their families. He is further survived by in-laws Sean Downey and family of Orlando, Florida, Kevin Downey, and family of Melrose, and Colleen Delano (Downey) and family, of Woburn. Survived and greatly missed by many nephews and nieces.

John grew up in Woburn, graduated from Woburn High school, class of 1974. He, at an early age had a fascination with trucks. He attended and successfully graduated from Andover Tractor Trailer School and worked as a class A CDL driver thru present-day. Throughout his career, John was the recipient of many awards of driver excellence, of which he was very proud.

In addition to his career, John had a love of family, friends, and music. He and Kathy enjoyed life to the fullest! John was an avid camper, with which he and his family enjoyed many fond summers at Salisbury beach, Seabrook beach, as well as many points of interest throughout New England. John loved the surf, loved to fish, and most enjoyed taking long, hand-in-hand walks on the beach.

Local sports was a big interest as well. He was a dedicated fan of all our Boston teams; was a consistent, and avid fan of each. The loud thrill of Nascar was the backdrop in the neighborhood each Sunday!

John was a gentle giant, a kind man with a warm heart. He was readily available to help others, whatever the need. He was a man of few words, but had a heart and persona bigger than life. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn. Collation of remembrance to follow at Woburn Country Club, 5 Country Club Rd., Woburn Ma. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements under the direction of the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, Woburn.
