Burns, Timothy J. age 79, of Wellesley, devoted husband, dad, and granddad, passed away January 11, after a rapid advance of a long illness. Raised in Arlington as the son of Irish immigrants Mary and Pat Burns, with his sister Maureen. He graduated magna cum laude from Boston College and with an MBA from University of Chicago. Tim was successful in his business life, becoming a wonderful provider. He was a life long avid athlete and sports fan. He played baseball through college, and coached Wellesley Little League for many years. He thrived as a rugby player with the Boston RFC and later as a national panel referee. Tim is survived by his wife Carol, son Craig and daughter-in-law Lynn, and grandchildren Jack and Katie who lit up his life.
Memorial service will be held in the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. WELLESLEY on Saturday, February 2, at 12 Noon. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11am-12 Noon. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Reception will follow service.
