Obituary

Fremont J. Morin, age 88, passed away on Jan. 15, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on Nov. 29, 1930 in Springfield, a son of the late Charles and Rita (Disilet) Morin. He graduated from St George Catholic Grade School and then from Chicopee Trade School. Fremont served his country in the United States Army for the 82nd Airborn Army Division US Army Special Forces from 1951 – 1954 and was a Korean War Veteran. He then worked as a skilled carpenter for many years before he retired. He was a member of the American Legion Post 275 in Chicopee, the Tigers A.C and the Easthampton Beagle Club. Fremont loved hunting and would raise and train hunting beagles. He is survived by his wife Margaret (James) Morin of Chicopee; 3 sons, James Morin and his wife Katie of Chicopee, Phillip Morin and his wife Christine of Springfield and Charles Morin of Chicopee; 2 daughters, Deborah Styckiewicz and her husband Alan of Chicopee and Mary Salamon and her husband Brian of Chicopee; 2 brothers, Thomas Morin and his wife Mary of Holyoke and Jerome Morin and his wife Joyce of Easthampton; 1 brother-in-law, David Badal of Port St Lucie, FL; 2 sisters, Stella Presnall and her husband Max of St Lucie, FL and Elise Pion of Chicopee; 1 sister-in-law Lorene Morin of Agawam; 8 grandchildren Michael Styckiewicz, Patrick Styckiewicz and his wife Taylor, Cheyenne Styckiewicz, Eric Morin and his wife Robyn, Mitchell Morin, Christian Salamon, Shannen Salamon and Nadia Miller along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Charles and Richard Morin and also by his sister Irene Badal. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise` Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 10:00 AM from the Grise` Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Rose de Lima Church at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
